Six Flags Great America Re-Opening For Holiday in the Park

Six Flags Great America announced today that the third ever Holiday in the Park will open as a “lights experience” on November 27. The park received approval from the state of Illinois to open for the first time in 2020. But, don’t expect any rides during the event.

Guests visiting Holiday in the Park will get to experience massive Christmas light displays with over 2.5 million lights throughout the property. There will also outdoor entertainment designed for socially distanced viewing, socially distanced photo-ops with characters, and special seasonal treats.

Illinois’ reopening guidelines mean the park can’t operate rides, and capacity is reduced. But, it’s nice to see another park finding a way to open in some capacity, similar to what Knott’s Berry Farm has been doing since summer.

As with all park openings, expect lots of new safety procedures, and you need to make a reservation ahead of time. My experience making reservations for Six Flags has been super easy, so it shouldn’t be a problem to do so. Reservations are now open, and more details on making them can be found here. More info on Holiday in the Park can be found on the Six Flags Great America website.
