Kings Dominion Announces Reptilian: A Re-Theme for Avalanche

On social media today, Kings Dominion posted a series of crytpic images that seem to point to something that is related to the park’s new Jungle X-Pedition area, highlighted by the addition of Tumbili for 2022. The park later confirmed that Avalanche, the park’s historic bobsled roller coaster is being re-themed as part of the area, and will now be known as Reptilian.

According to Kings Dominion, Nearly 80 years after the discovery of Tumbili by Professor Whey, another temple was uncovered by archeology professor, Rovin Jay, in Jungle X.

While leading a project for the Whey Foundation, Professor Rovin Jay and his team uncovered a temple dedicated to the powerful reptile, a crocodile. The builders of this temple were awed and terrified by the creature’s deceivingly stealthy yet quick movement. According to the scripts within the site, the temple is named Reptilian.

In the temple, explorers have the chance to ride these powerful creatures through the jungle. Just be careful, their stealthy yet quick movements will create quite the high-speed adventure!

The three notes from Professor Jay noted a few key details about the retheme of Avalanche.

  • I’ve located another temple in Jungle X! This temple seems to be dedicated to a creature similar to a crocodile or an alligator. Based on my translations, the name of this creature’s temple is Reptilian.
  • The creature: In the brief glimpses that I’ve seen of the creature, I’ve noticed motifs in either blue, red, or orange.
  • A note on its environment, the creature appears to travel in muddy troughs, often terracotta in color. Occasionally, I’ve noticed sand or rust colored accents.

As part of the retheme, Avalanche will be repainted a terracotta color, and will feature sand colored supports and rust colored accents.

The former Olympic Bobsled cars will also receive a new theme and paint scheme. The park promises more details will be released on Jungle X-Pedition in the coming months.

Originally open in 1988, the coaster formerly known as Avalanche is one of just six bobsled roller coasters built by MACK Rides, and is the only such model at a park in the United States.
