Six Flags Advance Reservations? And What You Need To Know

As you may already know, some theme parks are already planning (or more like anticipating) their reopenings.

One of them, being Six Flags, is currently working on an outline. And you can hopefully expect to see them open by mid-May (and man, are we praying for that).

As a response to COVID-19, Six Flags worked with members and season pass holders by offering the option to either put monthly payments on hold or continue payments and receive additional upgrades for the year.

On Six Flags’ April 30 conference call, Michael Spanos, CEO announced the opening of six amusement parks: Six Flags over Texas, Six Flags over Georgia, Six Flags St. Louis, Frontier City, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and Six Flags Mexico.

But, what about safety concerns?

Well, once these parks open, you can count on seeing temperature checks, reduce attendance, face masks, cashless transactions, mobile ordering, and social distancing procedures.

“We’re going to have hand washing stations, free sanitizers, masks, sanitization of the parks each night,” Spanos said. “And we’re going to have to enforce social distancing in all areas, starting from the parking lot to the rides, the queue lines, and the dining areas. And that’s going to be the reality and a manual reality as well.”

Recently, each park’s announcement notifications were updated, and are now requiring advance reservations. This would include all visitors which include pass holders and members.

This system will allow Six Flags to practice social distancing by controlling the numbers within their parks, and not disappoint other pass members by turning them away.

These RSVPs will be made online, and more information is to come soon.

Update as of May 13

Today, Six Flags introduce their new guest reservation system in a press release. To ensure proper social distancing, every guest, regardless if they have a single-day pass, group ticket, membership, or season pass, will be required to make a reservation for a specific date.

The entire reservation process should take guest 5-7 minutes, in which they will complete the following steps:

  • Enter their online order number, ticket number, or Membership/Season Pass number;
  • Select the date they want to visit, and the approximate time they wish to enter the park;
  • Watch a brief video that describes new social distancing and sanitization procedures;
  • Acknowledge their understanding of the company’s health policy; and
  • Order pre-paid parking, if they do not already have a pass.

If all spots for a particular date is filled, guests will have the option to join a waitlist and will be contacted by six flags automatically if additional inventory is released or a guest cancels.

Diamond and Diamond Elite Members will automatically be added to the priority waitlist, and all Members and Season Pass Holders will receive booking priority over single-day ticket buyers.

Guests can also cancel their reservation without penalty before 8:00 a.m. (local time) on the day of their scheduled visit.

Once the system goes online, guests will be able to make reservations until the end of the year.

The guest not only selects just the date they want to visit, but also the time (based on availability). On the day of their visit, they will be allowed to enter only during the time period they initially selected.

Guests who arrive before their stated entry time may be asked to wait in their car until it is time for them to enter the park.

If a guest arrives after their selected time, and miss their window, Six Flags will do their best to get you into the park as quickly as possible. Depending on the number of guests at the entry point there may be a delay. But you will be allowed in. Once you are allowed in, you will still be able to stay until the park closes.

Guests who make reservations and don’t use them (not properly canceling) are subject to penalties such as reduced system priority and blockout periods.

The new guest reservation process is currently not enabled (but you will be notified in Six Flags’ park newsletter). The system will be activated to accept reservations when specific park reopening dates are confirmed.
