Six Flags ended August with a bang, as many of their parks announced new additions today. Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Great America were both part of that list, and will be adding their own Zamperla Giga Discovery in 2024. The Joker: Carnival of Chaos at Six Flags St. Louis and Sky Striker at Six Flags Great America.
According to Zamperla, At a record-breaking 52,5 meters (172 ft) in the air, the Giga Discovery reaches speeds up to 110 kilometers (75 mph) per-hour, as it swings back and forth—higher and higher giving to the 40 riders a staggering view of the world below.
At Six Flags Great America, Sky Striker “will send you into the clouds as you swing back and forth on its massive pendulum, creating the ultimate stomach-drop feeling as you touch the sky.”
Hold on tight as Sky Striker takes you 172 feet into the air, swinging through the sky at speeds of up to 75 miles per hour. Take in unique views of Six Flags Great America as you soar along 130-degree swings of the towering pendulum, nearly going upside down.
As you swing through the clouds you will also spin, adding even another dimension to this maximum-thrills experience. This first-of-its-kind ride for the park creates a freefall sensation like no other. As Sky Striker lowers you back down to earth, you’ll already be raring to go on your next journey through the sky.
The same attraction is headed to Six Flags St. Louis, where it will be known as The Joker: Carnival of Chaos. The park’s 2023 addition, Rookie Racer, will open later this year.
According to the park: THE JOKER™: Carnival of Chaos is one of the world’s tallest pendulum rides, standing at a staggering 17-stories in the air! This impressive giant disk reaches speeds of up to 75 miles per hour as it whips back and forth, swinging higher and higher to give riders a jaw-dropping view of the world below them. For even more chaos, the ride spins at it swings, creating a unique thrill experience.
These will be the fifth and sixth Zamperla Giga Discoveries installed at Six Flags parks, joining CraZanity at Six Flags Magic Mountain (2018), Joker: Carnival of Chaos at Six Flags Fiesta Texas (2019), Wonder Woman: Lasso of Truth at Six Flags Great Adventure (2019), and CraZanity at Six Flags Mexico (2020.)
