Coaster101 10-Year Throwback Giveaway: 2011

Coaster101 turned 10 years old on Monday, and to celebrate, we’re looking back at our favorite posts from the past decade and by giving away TEN Coaster101 Prize Packs! Today we’re flashing back to 2011.

After frequent design changes during the late 2000s and 2010, the website’s appearance remained more or less the same during 2011, allowing us to better focus on content.

Our most popular series, “Coasters-101,” written by resident engineer Nick Weisenberger put complex roller coaster design, systems, physics and more into easy-to-digest language. We analyzed Universal’s motion base track patent.

We interviewed Randy King, Owner and Consultant at Entertainment Safety Solutions about theme park safety.image_5

We explored the (now gone) remnants of the Opryland USA theme park. We shared photos of Walt Disney World from 1979 and Disneyland from 1985.

At Six Flags Great America, we followed the preparation for X-Flight and the deconstruction of Iron Wolf.
