Gentle Breeze Squad, Assemble!
We started with 68 parks from across North America. After more than 92,000 total votes cast, we’ve narrowed it down to one park that happens to be located in two states. We are proud to announce the winner of 2021’s edition of Park Mania: Carowinds!
Carowinds is where the Carolinas come together, quite literally. Celebrating its 48th anniversary this year, the park holds the distinction as the only park in the United States to traverse state lines, as it sits on the border of both North and South Carolina. Over the years, the park has continued to grow into the park guests know and love today, complete with more than 50 rides and attractions, including a world-class collection of 14 roller coasters. These roller coasters include the record breaking Fury 325, the double-launched Copperhead Strike, the Dale Earnhardt-themed Intimidator hyper coaster, and the “Highway to the Danger Zone” known as Afterburn.
In 2021, the park will welcome the mat-racing water slide Boogie Board Racer to Carolina Harbor and the Grand Carnivale global festival to the park’s midways!
After a random draw placed Carowinds in the “Heartline” region of this year’s tournament, Carowinds was able to outpace 2017 Park Mania Champion Silverwood, Six Flags Over Texas, Knoebels, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in each of the first four rounds, before ultimately receiving more votes than Cedar Point in the semi-finals, and Dollywood in the finals.
The votes were largely influenced by the park’s passionate fans and their presence on social media, as Carowinds received the most individual votes of any park in each of the six voting rounds except for the second. (trailing only Busch Gardens Tampa and Kings Island that round.)

Carowinds joins past Park Mania/Madness Champions, Silverwood – 2017, Kings Island – 2018, Hersheypark – 2019, and last year’s champion, Holiday World.
