Blackpool Pleasure Beach Opening Day 2015

It seems very early in the year, but the Pleasure Beach opened on February 7th for the season and it’s pre-season weekends. Just three months since the last opening day, early November.

Light crowds on the opening day, but a steady throughput was good to see, with many locals and enthusiasts taking advantage of the mild weather.

Quite a bit of off-season work has been done in the park, on general park improvements. Good to see the Big Dipper cupola spruced up.

A good range of rides was available through the day, with opening from 11 till 5, and competitive half price ride bands available.

Nickelodeon Streak running in nicely… sneaky peak.

There is always a line for the popular, and unique Wild Mouse.

Around the corner, and I am warming to Wallace and Gromit… On repeat rides, it is starting to become at home here. I still miss the Gold Mine though.

And across the midway, whats missing here?

The redundant Monorail station has been removed, and also the track in this area, which opens up the view from this area significantly.

While on the subject of improvements, what could be happening here?

Maybe it’s for this…

One ride not back in time for opening day is the 1904 Sir Hiram Maxim Flying Machine. Looking very good though after the winter rehabilitation.

Obligatory rides on the Big One round off an enjoyable day. This ride is running well for day one.

Blackpool continues to invest in its attractions along the promenade, with continuing work on the Tower.

And back to the Pleasure Beach for last rides today.

A nice way to begin the coaster season, hopefully the investments the park has made will be rewarded with a successful season.
