Six Flags Announces New Attractions For 2023

Six Flags today announced a slew of new attractions and experiences that will open in 2023. Let’s take a look at their new-for-2023 lineup.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

A walkthrough experience — “The Rainforest Trail” — will feature a lush tropical environment with over 500 free-flying butterflies, a 300,000-gallon shark experience, colorful fish, a sloth and more. 

Other animal additions in 2023 include new animal interaction programs:

  • Dolphin Discovery – Swim alongside these amazing ocean creatures.
  • Wildlife Adventure Tour – An intimate and private tour around the park with awe-inspiring meetings with the park’s majestic animals.
  • Sharks in the Dark – Sleep overnight in the park’s Shark Experience amongst the calm shadows of these creatures of the deep.
  • Backstage Safari – Go behind the scenes and learn how the park’s animal care specialists care for the unique assembly of animals at Six Flags.
  • Merlin’s Fins & Friends – Come face-to-face with the park’s famous Bottlenose Dolphins.
  • Paint N° Create – Create a truly unique work of art with a dolphin or penguin.
  • Cain’s Lion Encounter – Discover the unique personalities of the park’s lion pride.
  • Sal’s Slither & Scales – Burrow into the fascinating world of reptiles.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Originally announced in December 2022, the world’s first racing family coaster finally has a name — KID FLASH Cosmic Coaster. This DC-inspired P’Sghetti racing family coaster will feature a LED lighting package and storyboards. 

This Skyline Attractions-manufactured, 1,124-foot-long coaster will have a 36-inch height requirement. The track will cross over itself a total of 11 times.


Hurricane Harbor New Jersey

The water park has announced an expansion of Splash Island; a new tree-house play structure with over 50 features curtain waterfalls and a water bucket and 7 new slides: Cowabunga, Jellyfish Twist, Ripcurl, Shark Attack, Splashin’ Seal and Stingray Racer.

The expansion will be geared towards guests 42 inches and under. 


Six Flags New England

Dinosaur enthusiasts can now be transported back in time in this newest attraction: Dino Off Road Adventure. The safari-style vehicle family ride will feature life-size animatronic dinosaurs and immersive environments. 

Riders will have the chance to see Tyrannosaurus Rex, Dilophosauras, Maiasaura, Pachycephalosaur and more.


Six Flags Over Georgia

Similar to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, this single-rail family racing coaster has announced its name — KID FLASH Cosmic Coaster. This Skyline Attractions coaster will also have a lighting package and a DC theming. 

This ride open later in 2023.


Six Flags White Water

The water park has announced its Caribbean Cove, a new children’s AquaPlay structure. 

With over 25 elements, this experience will feature four slides. 


Six Flags Over Texas

Aquaman: Power Wave is officially set to open during spring break on March 11, 2023. This Mack multi-launched water coaster features two 90-degree 150-foot towers with a max of 63 mph. 

With its turntable station, riders are able to load on one side and launch on the other side.

Six Flags St Louis

Six Flags St. Louis announced its newest family coaster for the 2023 season: Rookie Racer. This Vekoma family coaster, inspired by Formula 1, will consist of tight turns, drops and a 540-degree horizontal loop.
