Pixar Hotel Coming to Disneyland, plus Downtown Disney Updates

Disneyland announced today that a big change is coming to their Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. The hotel will soon begin a tranformation into an all new Pixar theme.

Paradise Pixar Pier Hotel

According to the Disney Parks blog, “the reimagining of the hotel will weave the artistry of Pixar into its comfortable, contemporary setting. Guests will gain a new perspective on some of their favorite Pixar worlds and characters through carefully curated artwork, and décor that reveals the creative journey of the artists who helped bring these stories to life.”

There aren’t a lot of details on the theming yet, but the biggest news is actually that the hotel will also be getting a direct entrance to Disney California Adventure. Disney announced that a walkway is already under construction which will give Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel guests a convenient entrance to Disney California Adventure park! Hopefully it’s a direct entrance like the one from the Grand Californian!

I think of Paradise Pier as the “forgotten” Disneyland hotel, mostly because it’s not actually super convenient to the parks (no more so than  nearby motels), and it doesn’t really have any of its own attractions the way the Disneyland hotel does. These updates should change that!

Downtown Disney Updates

The Parks Blog also announced some exciting Downtown Disney updates for food fans. Construction has been going on for awhile, and we got some new renderings of what the area will look like when done.

But for me the most exciting news is that world renowned dumpling restaurant Din Tai Fung will be opening a spot at Downtown Disney. Presumably it will have hour long waits just like at every other location I’ve been to! It sounds like it will be opening up in a new location in downtown Disney.

Din Tai Fung coming to Disneyland is the most exciting Disney news in a long time!

Along with Din Tai Fung, Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytan is bringing his inclusive vision of Mexican cuisine to Paseo and Centrico in the locations currently occupied by Catal & Uva Bar. The restaurant and central courtyard bar and dining area will offer guests a multi-sensory journey to the heart of Chef Gaytan’s homeland.
