Universal Orlando Updates: Fast & Furious and Jimmy Fallon

Recently, it seems like there’s always something new being built at the Universal Orlando Resort. When we visited last Thursday, we took some progress photos of two new projects happening at Universal Studios Florida, Fast & Furious: Supercharged and Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Fast & Furious Supercharged

The graffitied construction walls are up the former locations of both Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Review and Disaster, with much of the construction of the new ride building taking place behind the San Francisco facades across from Richter’s Burgers.

This structure is located on the old Beetlejuice theater site. The ride building is in the background. Photos do it no justice as the building is massive.

A look inside of the ride building.

Crane on site.

More construction walls up near the former Disaster site.

Fast & Furious: Supercharged will open sometime in 2018.

Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon

The former site of Twister: Ride it Out has been transformed into a miniature version of 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City, where the Tonight Show is filmed. It was announced (actually on the day that we visited) that Race Through New York will officially open on April 6, in conjunction with The Tonight Show taking place at Universal Orlando from April 3-6.

The new ride’s sign was up, but there was still some minor facade work to do on the ride’s entrance.

Workers were inside hard at work putting the finishing touches on the attraction. There were several monitors around the outside of the ride’s shop on the second floor.

Didn’t get any photos of the inside of the Tonight Shop, but it will open soon. There’s a giant NBC peacock logo in the ceiling.
