Street View: Inside Alton Towers, Part II

Last week we took you inside Alton Towers via Google’s Street View. But it’s impossible to capture the entire park in one day, so below you will find Part II of our virtual adventure across the pond to Alton Towers.

Even the flat rides are extensively themed, as seen above.

One of the most iconic attractions at Alton Towers is Nemesis, a B&M invert that opened in 1994.

Nemesis has probably the most non-traditional layout of any B&M coaster. The coaster’s vertical loop is actually the third inversion rather than the first.

This corkscrew is actually the first major element of the ride.

The 2349 feet of track even weaves under Air’s lifthill.

Look how close the track comes to the path! Those fences would need to be about 10 feet higer in America.

Seen above is the park’s rapids ride and Runaway Mine Train.

On the other side of the park, the peak of Oblivion’s lift hill slowly comes into view as you approach the X-Sector area of the park.

Oblivion might not seem that intimidating at first, but the coaster plunges a total of 180 feet. Seen above is only about half of the drop.

A common theme at Alton Towers is the beautiful way that the coasters and other attraction blend with the foliage.

Here the train plunges underground.

Thank you for going inside Alton Towers with us. We’ll feature another park soon.
