Pony Express incident at Knott’s Berry Farm

“Ten people were injured in a roller-coaster accident in Southern California.

The accident occurred Thursday night on the Pony Express ride at Knott’s Berry Farm in Orange County, The Associated Press reported.

A roller-coaster car that that was going up a hill lost momentum and slid backward, slamming into another car.

Ten people suffered minor back and neck injuries, the Los Angeles Times said. The injured people ranged in age from 12 to 60.

The Knott’s Berry Farm website says the Pony Express accelerates to 38 mph in less than 3 seconds.

The ride “opened in 2008 and has never had any problems,” spokeswoman Jennifer Blazey told the Times.

It is not clear what caused the accident.

“We’ll be investigating that,” Blazey said.

The park remained open until its usual closing time of 1 a.m.”
