The Coaster101 Podcast: 2021 TPEG Alumni Design Competition Winners

Earlier this year, we interviewed the TPEG Alumni Community about the creation of their theme park design competition for college students and recent graduates. Today, we talk to the winners of the 2021 TPEG Alumni Community Design Competition Winners. I’d like to thank the members of Team 8: Ethan Cheng, Jasmin Ali-Diaz, Kevin Brunner, and Nigel Nicholas Chew from Northwestern University for taking the time to tell us all about their incredible project, which can be viewed here.

The prompt for the 2021 competition was as follows: “There are elements found in nature that are universal across any language. Those elements are air, earth, fire, and water. A theme park located in Wichita, Kansas wants to expand their existing theme park and they need your help! This new land must include 1 sit down dining experience, 1 quick service restaurant, 1 merchandise location, 1 signature merchandise item, 2 rides or attractions that must include ADA accommodations, and 1 entertainment element. They want their park to be unique which is why the land may only be based off of two elements. Choose two of the following to create a unique experience for guests: Air, Earth, Fire, Water.”

“Welcome to Mount Olympics, the Olympic Games of the gods! Every four years the Greek gods of Olympus come together and host their own version of the Olympic games. Guests have been granted a special invitation and are
welcomed into the Hippodrome of Olympus to take part in the games and experience the competition.”

Be sure to watch the fly through animation below as we reference it several times during the interview:
