Could the Opryland amusement park in Nashville that closed in 1997 make a comeback in the future?
Gaylord Entertainment, the owner of the Opryland resort, is not denying the possibility. Since Gaylord is expanding with the recent approval of a convention center, some are saying a themepark could be part of the mix.
Update: On January 19, 2012, Dollywood and Gaylord announced plans to build a water/snow theme park that will open in the summer of 2014. Click here for more details.
I would love for the park to reopen. I always loved all the rides it had, and can remember almost all of them. please keep me posted on this
Thank you,
Audrey Edwards
I knew the park like the back of my hand. It was a great place to go. I wanted to take my daughter. Hopefully we’ll get something soon!
Please bring the amusement park back. My husband has great memories of the park. We would like to share them with our children. They are just the right age to enjoy that type of thing. The shows would be great as well. For those of us not always needing to ride something. It is also a perfect distance from the house to spend a great day and then head home. Please, please, please bring it back!!!!
Bring back the park PLEASE! It was such a great thing for tourist and locals alike to go to! You have to drive too far to go to an amusement park now. Plus the fairground is goin BYE BYE and now we will have nothing! My family also comes down to visit form out of state and the last thing they want to do is go to a mall(they can do that at home!)Plus there is not much to do when you have kids with you on vacation in Nashville “unless they like to drink!”:) Everytime i go by Briley Parkway there is STILL a sadness that OPRYLAND U.S.A is gone!:(
I moved here from Chicago IL for Opryland USA. I am a fan of the theme park and would loved to see it return. It shouldn’t have never closed in the first place took away all of the fun since the park closed in 1997.
i hope they do bring it i loved the park as a kid and want it back bad to take my son as well. i dont understand y they closed it for a mall boo nashville has plenty of them if they wanted a basspro they should of built it in the park that would been awesome.
I would live to share what I had experianced at Opryland with my children I have very fond memories or Opryland and would love to hear that it is going to reopen
Yes please bring Opryland back i loved that Park i loved the Ride that played the song The Tennessee Waltz
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back Opryland USA! We have nothing in Nashville like it. I have lived here for 25 years and GREATLY miss the park. Nashville is boring without it-SO boring and other places are getting the money that Nashville COULD be getting and it would also offer many jobs. Opryland USA should have NEVER been closed just to build another mall. I feel like Gaylord just got greedy. Waiting on Opryland USA to come back instead of this BORING Midtown crap.
Everything was so awesome at Opryland USA-all the rides, the shows, the trains, fractured fairytales, Halloween time–it was awesome-fog everywhere, people in coatumes, concerts-Christmas time was awesome with all things Christmas, hot apple cider, hot chocolate, carolers. The wooden roller coaster was Awesome-the skyride where you could see the whole park was awesome. When my family come from out of state-they always want to go out of Nashville bcuz they say it is boring and they r right. It is hard to be proud of Nashville bcuz everyone knows that Gaylord just got greedy and took away the best thing about Nashville. The Opryland USA was something to be proud of-When I would think of Nashville-I would see all kinds of wonderful colors-without Opryland USA-we r just a gray area of nothing.
Probably no one will even see our comments that can or will help bring our beloved theme park back with the PROUD Opryland USA name and with it being EXACTLY as it was-if I was rich or won the lottery I would bring back our park that was a great part of our childhood and teenage years. It has been 20 years since Gaylord so CRUELY shut it down. Im about to start holding up a sign that says will work to bring Opryland USA back like the rest of the panhandlers-maybe then I can raise enough money to buy whoever I need to buy in order to bring it back to NASHVILLE-that seems to be the only language that Gaylord understands-the language of money and GREED-just sayin
