Zamperla Unveils New “Double Heart” Hyper Coaster Concept

Zamperla has promised a year full of announcements for the company’s roller coaster division, and today, the Italian ride makers unveiled their latest creation; the Double Heart.

Featuring a unique, compact footprint that combines vertical visibility with minimal use of ground space, the Double Heart is a triple launching roller coaster available in both a 70m (~230′) and 50m (~164′) versions. Each model features twisting vertical rise and drop, as well as two inversions: an immellmann and a dive loop.

Yes, for those keeping score at home, the larger model of the Double Heart would be considered a hyper-coaster (any roller coaster over 200′ tall), giving parks the opportunity to advertise a new hyper coaster at a fraction of the cost of a more traditional model.

The Double Heart model can accommodate up-to two 16-passenger trains via a turntable loading system, for a maximum theoretical hourly capacity of up 975 riders per hour. (The 50m model features multiple capacity options to fit a variety of investment levels.)

The coaster uses Zamperla’s recently announced Lightning trains, which are lighter than their predecessors, and only feature a few welds on the train, making them more affordable to own and operate. The ride, while sure to be thrilling, only features a minimum height requirement of 48″

“We are thrilled to showcase the Double Heart. It combines an exciting layout, high capacity and changes the skyline of every park,” said Adam Sandy, Sales and Marketing Director for Zamperla’s roller coaster division. “But what I’m most excited about is the opportunity to showcase the hard work our team has done. Over the past five years the women and men that design and fabricate Zamperla coasters have spent countless hours re-imagining every facet of our coaster process. This is really their time to shine, I’m just lucky enough to be the guy that sells it. Expect more fun stuff soon.”
