Busch Gardens Williamsburg today announced the fan-voted name “InvadR” for its 2017 wooden roller coaster.
InvadR beat out “Viking Raider” and “Battle Klash” as potential names for the Great Coasters International wooden coaster.
The park announced the news on social media this afternoon:

InvadR is being touted as the “world’s first crowdsourced ride, inviting consumers to ‘decide the ride’ and become co-creators with the park team for this unique new attraction.”
According to the park, “…fans will get an unprecedented opportunity to shape the ride experience through various surveys and means of participation.”
The coaster will stand 74 feet tall and will reach a top speed of 48 mph as it takes advantage of the park’s rugged and heavily wooded terrain.
While the park hasn’t released an official animation of the coaster (other than the small glimpse above), a fan made a pretty incredible No Limits 2 rendering of the coaster based on site plans:
If the coaster turns out anything like the animation, I think Busch Gardens Williamsburg has a real winner on their hands.

InvadR looks like it ought to be a promising new wood coaster when 2017 rolls around. It’ll be interesting to see what the class of 2017 coaster line-up will look like, and what coasters the Cedar Fair and Six Flags chains, among other theme/amusement park chains may be planning. We’ll find out later this year the next RMC makeovers, next giga-coaster, and next first of its kind coaster.
