B&M prototype to open at Gardaland in 2011

B&M will open a new prototype coaster at Gardaland in 2011 temporarily named “X-Raptor.”

As seen in the rendering above, the seats will be situated on the sides of the track, similar to rides such as X2 and Furius Baco. The ride will be about  2,624 feet long and will reach heights of about 98 feet. The press release (you must fill out a short survey) states that the ride will feature 90 degree turns. No word on whether or not the ride will be launched or not, but I have a feeling it will have a traditional chain lift hill. The ride will feature water effects and “near miss” moments with several objects throughout the ride. Also mentioned on the press release is that the ride will contain two zer0-gravity moments.

This will be an interesting coaster to watch progress! We’ll bring you more details as we receive them!
