Knott’s Berry Farm announced the dates for this year’s annual Boysenberry Festival, and revealed a whole slew of delicious sounding items to find this year. The Festival this year will run for a full month, from March 20 through April 19. In total there are going to be 75 different boysenberry themed foods and drinks.

That number includes 26 new items this year to go along with a whole bunch of returning favorites. The list of new items includes 15 new savory bites, 5 new desserts, and 6 new drinks. Check out the full list of all 26 new food items below, broken into categories:

Drinks

  • Refreshing lemonade with basil and boysenberry
  • Boysenberry Sangria
  • A sweet boysenberry smoothie packed with fruity flavors
  • A new Boysenberry Beer
  • A new Boysenberry Wine
  • Boysenberry Mimosa

A few things from the list that I’m already excited about:

  • A boysenberry sausage with boysenberry ketchup. They’ve had similar before, but its never been a boysenberry sausage that I can recall. I’m expecting this’ll punch up the amount of berry in the dish a bunch.

The past year sausages with boysenberry toppings have been solid, but I’m extra excited if this years has some bonus boysenberry flavor in the sausage itself.

  • Boysenberry beer cheese soup with a boysenberry drizzle. I love incorporating this year’s new boysenberry beer into the dish, and again am hoping the mix of the boysenberry beer and the extra drizzle will give it a big berry flavor
  • Tender beef tips served with creamy boysenberry mashed potato. In my past experience, when they load up a carb-y bite with boysenberry, those tend to be great (see the boysenberry tortillas and boysenberry ravioli from past years).

Boysenberry infused carbs tend to be awesome, so I’m hoping the boysenberry mashed potatoes can live up to the standard of the boysenberry tortillas from 2018.

  • Boysenberry bread pudding with a boysenberry coulis and anglaise sauce. This might be the richest thing on the whole menu, but a good bread pudding loaded with boysenberry and a boysenberry sauce on top sound amazing!
  • Boysenberry sangria. I love that they’re expanding the drink options. The boysenberry beer is always great, and the boysenberry wines and ciders are usually solid. Adding a berry filled sangria seems like a perfect drink addition.

I’m always happy with my boysenberry beer, but boysenberry sangria sounds fantastic.

Entertainment and crafts

Of course, along with all the new foods and returning favorites, the festival will also feature tons of local crafts (which usually include some great local boysenberry scented and flavored gifts). The park is also going to feature a huge lineup of entertainment this year, including:

  • Snoopy’s Boysenberry Jamboree! – Guests are invited to join Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the entire Peanuts Gang in a musical stage show that will have families dancing along at the Calico Mine Stage
  • Riverboat Revenge – Knott’s pays tribute to its past at the Legendary Bird Cage Theatre with a special presentation of the brand new comedy melodrama, Riverboat Revenge. All Aboard for this Boysenberry Bon Voyage!
  • Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies – A group of krazy talented performers will have guests toe tappin’, vine dancin’ and knee-slappin’ to a comedic country music show at the Wagon Camp stage.
  • Boysenberry Fun and Games – Get in on the fun of some of the craziest and messiest games along with our famous Boysenberry Pie Eating Contest.

The Boysenberry Pie Eating Contest Remains my favorite theme park entertainment ever.

  • Old MacDonald’s Farm  Young ones and young at heart are invited to cozy up to the cutest critters on the farm including horses, sheep, goats and other furry friends. Old MacDonald’s Farm pays tribute to one of the farm’s original attractions
  • Knott’s Totally Tubular 80’s Dance Party – A Classic returns!  Travel back to the 80’s as you dance the night away to the best songs of the decade.
  • Boysenberry Blues – Pull up a chair as our blues trio conjures up some of the smoothest tunes performing at the Boardwalk BBQ patio
  • Musical Performances – Various musical duos playing Country and Bluegrass tunes will take the stage at Fireman’s BBQ.
  • DJ Cruz – Knott’s resident DJ keeps the night pumpin’ with the latest dance hits sure to make you hit the dance floor
  • History of the Boysenberry –  Grab a slice of history in our museum dedicated to the fruit that made it all possible

Phew, that’s a lot of stuff. This year the park is going to sell tasting cards for $40, or $38 if you have a season pass. That’s good for 8 boysenberry items from 26 options, and it can be split over multiple trips. There will also be a ton of a la carte boysenberry items.
