The renovation of Texas Giant is nearing completion! Six Flags over Texas posted a video on their Facebook of a shortened train making a complete circuit. The park said:
“Yesterday was a big day here at the park. We did the first, of what will be many, test runs for the new Giant. Since this was the first go they only sent a partial train.. but you don’t need to see a full train to understand how “sick” this ride is going to be when it opens in the spring. Here’s some video and photos for you to check out. Let us know what you think…”
The coaster maintains speed through the entire course of the ride (the part that was shown in the video, at least). The coaster, as one would assume, sounds just like a steel coaster now!
Will you be riding the new Texas Giant once it reopens?
I am anxious to ride it, but I am a bit disappointed at the appearance (and I have had a great view of it throughout the year as the tracks are just feet from the entrance to the Titan). I think the look of the new tracks does not in any way match the wooden frame (imagine replacing the horses on the antique carousel with Lightning McQueen cars, but keeping the antique poles and the old organ music). When they are done with the testing, I hope they paint them brown.
That said, I am sure I will be happy to get off the ride and not feel like I have bruised all of my vital organs.
