On Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, Universal Studios Hollywood will celebrate the start of the inaugural “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” event, which transforms the Hogwarts area of the park into a winter wonderland.
The iconic Hogwarts castle will appear even more majestic at night with a colorful projection mapping that will coat the castle during the “Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle” light show display, taking place multiple times each evening.
Nestled in the shadows of the castle, the Hogsmeade village area will also receive festive decor, with each storefront featuring unique decorations.
Not only will hot Butterbeer return, the park will also introduce a “Holiday Dinner” featuring a “sumptuous roast turkey with gravy platter that includes pigs in blankets, a medley of vegetables, braised red cabbage and roasted potatoes served with cranberry sauce, along with Christmas Pudding.”
Sign me up.
The acappella “Frog Choir,” of Hogwarts students and their giant frogs will perform original holiday themed songs throughout the event.
If you’re shopping for a Harry Potter fan, the event will have a variety of new items in the Wizarding World’s shops, including:
- all-new custom-made Christmas ornaments
- a variety of decorative Hogwarts castle snow globes
- Hogwarts crest and mascot ornaments representing each of the houses
- unique tree toppers and house pennant garland
As always, wizard robes, wands and “Quidditch” game accessories are perfect for the Harry Potter fan in your life.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood opened in April of 2016 and features the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey dark ride (recently enhanced with higher quality video) and the Flight of the Hippogriff family roller coaster (the park’s first outdoor coaster). The area is also home to a variety of dining and retail locations, all inspired by the Harry Potter universe.
Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is open daily from November 24, 2017 through January 7, 2018.
