Today, Adventureland Park in Altoona, Iowa announced their plans for their 2016 season. They will be constructing a new 133 foot tall steel coaster called “The Monster” in place of their 40 year old log flume ride
Along “The Monster’s” 2500 feet of track, riders will experience an 101 degree first drop, five inversions and 10 moments of airtime. A unique element of the coaster will be its interaction with the nearby Sky Ride. It will cross over it’s neighbor eight separate times over the course of the ride.
Park officials said that they are sad to see the classic log flume go, but wanted to announce this now so that their fans could make sure they got one last ride.
“The Monster” is set to open in June of 2016 with construction starting after Labor Day.
Is the manufacturer known? Gerstlauer, Zierer,…
It’s a Gerstlauer Infinity coaster.
Looks like the park is going to get a large steel coaster that they needed, but at the expense of a classic log flume. I know about Dragon, but apparently that ride is garbage. But watching the video I only count 3 inverts not five, those being at 0:35, 0:46 and 0:52, how are there five of them?
What I’m curious about is how much of a success this will be over here, because if so the Infinity Coaster might end up like the Euro-Fighter, if not we might have another HRRR on our hands.
Still a better park than Mount Olympus any day of the week as they have variety (something that Mount Olympus lacks). Maybe next year I’ll get out to the place, but is Outlaw still any good?
Made in No Limits?
I think that this infinity coaster will be a great addition, but ill miss the log flume
