Santa’s Village Unveils New Midnight Flyer Details

In June, Santa’s Village in Jefferson, New Hampshire announced that they would be adding Midnight Flyer, a new family roller coaster from Vekoma coming in 2024. This coaster was described to be slightly faster and taller compared to Rudy’s Rapid Transit, the Zierer Tivoli Coaster it was replacing. Details beyond that were very scarce.

That was until recently as Santa’s Village has now released artwork and a video animation showcasing this brand-new family coaster following the recent closure of Rudy’s Rapid Transit.

Midnight Flyer is now confirmed to be a new-gen Vekoma Junior roller coaster that RCDB lists as a Vekoma Junior Horus model. Vekoma describes the Horus model as “a fun family adventure ride that features a continuous fast-pace and family-oriented airtime”. Based on the listed statistics for the Horus model, Midnight Flyer will be 41 ft tall, 1,148 ft long, and reach a top speed of roughly 24.9 mph. Currently, there are no operating Vekoma Junior Horus coasters, so the model and layout are brand-new.

Aesthetics-wise, Midnight Flyer will sport bright green track and purple supports. The train will be painted purple with silver borders. Additionally, the front car will have the ride’s logo on the front along with silver reindeer on the side as a neat extra touch. The restraints and seat design for Midnight Flyer’s train appear to be the same as the trains on Dollywood’s recently added Big Bear Mountain. Midnight Flyer will retain Rudy’s Rapid Transit’s forest setting as the layout will traverse around and through the trees.

“The Midnight Flyer will give riders the feel of flying with reindeer, just like Santa does to deliver presents”, according to Santa’s Village. The park has also stated that Midnight Flyer will have a 36-inch minimum height requirement. At this time, Santa’s Village has not provided a specific opening time frame for Midnight Flyer besides that it will open in 2024.
