Six Flags Over Georgia Announces Surf Coaster for 2024

Six Flags Over Georgia today announced at its Coaster Fest event a first-of-its-kind “ultra surf coaster” that will open in 2024.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), the park said riders will “coast back and forth along nearly 590 feet of U-shaped track, reaching speeds of up to 60 miles per hour as you hit the ride’s 144-foot peak before splashing down in a scenic splashing pad.”

While the park did not disclose the manufacturer of the coaster, it appears to be the Ultra Surf model from Intamin. Intamin announced the model in July of 2021. You can watch a video of the model in action below:

The below renderings released by Intamin in 2021 may vary from Six Flags Over Georgia’s coaster, but it at least gives us a better idea of what the coaster will look like.

The Ultra Surf Coaster will stand 144 feet tall and feature 590 feet of track. The car, with two rings of spinning seats, will reach a top speed of 60 mph via forward and backward linear synchronous motor (LSM) launches.

The coaster will feature four interactive water elements, four passes over the airtime hill and three “weightlessness airtime moments” at the “gravity stall ramp” spikes on either end of the track.
