Lake Compounce to Restore Wildcat Wooden Coaster

Lake Compounce today announced on Facebook that its historic Wildcat wooden coaster will remain closed for the 2023 season as the park begins an extensive restoration on the 96-year-old coaster.

They stated, “Wildcat is an iconic part of our park’s history, and we intend for it to be a cherished part of our park’s future.”

Opened in 1927, this classic wooden Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters (PTC) coaster was fully retracked in 2017 by Martin & Vleminckx.

During this time, the coaster’s 3x3x2 PTC trains were removed in favor of two Millennium Flyer trains from Great Coasters International.

The park did not reveal specifics of what the restoration will entail or the company that will perform the work, but it is exciting to hear that the park is investing in the coaster’s future.
