Mystic River Falls at Silver Dollar City is the latest “new for 2020” addition to officially open in this crazy summer theme park season. While a lot of attractions we were looking forward to have been delayed to 2021, the new river rapid rides joins a short list of major attraction openings, including another water ride, Old Mill at Kennywood, as well as Orion giga coaster at Kings Island and Candymonium at HersheyPark.

Mystic River Falls – Recording Breaking Rapids Ride
According to Silver Dollar City, “Mystic River Falls is a ride that those in the attractions industry say is an engineering marvel with its elevator lift and waterfall drop, coupled with extensive Ozark-native stone landscaping throughout the winding river of rapids. Along the shores, the buildings are fashioned like piers of yesteryear. The 12-minute long ride takes adventurers through rapids and a winding river channel, before the boats ascend to the top of a 8-story elevator which is the world’s first and only rotating lift of its kind, where guests then travel a sloping river channel that leads them to a 4-and-a-half-story waterfall drop – billed as the ‘Tallest Drop on a Rapids Ride in the Western Hemisphere’ – and in fact, the biggest splashdown in the park’s 60-year history!”

Rivertown Smokehouse
However, Mystic River Falls isn’t the only addition to Silver Dollar City, as it will reside in an all-new land. Nestled on the edge of Silver Dollar City is an all-new district the citizens lovingly call Rivertown. Built along the waterfront, Rivertown reflects the rich heritage of American exploration. Rivertown is the perfect spot for a family photo in front of the river, or to watch happily soaked rafters as they splash down at the end of their journey on Mystic River Falls. Anchoring Rivertown will be the all-new Rivertown Smokehouse, which promises the “tastiest barbecue this side of the Mississippi.” Rivertown Smokehouse will be constructed at a cost of $4 Million.

And here’s some more footage provided by the park. The rotating lift looks really neat – though I hope it’s not overly complicated. The spiraling chute leading into the first drop is also very unique and cool looking. As to be expected from Silver Dollar City, the theming and storyline is top notch!
