Home Away From Home: A Stay at the Worlds of Fun Village

When we visited Worlds of Fun earlier this year, we had the opportunity to stay at the Worlds of Fun Village, Worlds of Fun’s on-site campground and lodging option. Featuring 22 pond-side cabins, 20 smaller wood-front “cottages,” and more than 80 RV sites (both back-in and pull-through), Worlds of Fun Village is certainly a unique option when it comes to theme park lodging options.

Staying in one of the cottages for two nights, we came up with several reasons why you should consider the Worlds of Fun Village for your next stay at Worlds of Fun.

1. You’re Staying Within Literal Walking Distance To The Park

Many hotels can tout a “room with a view” of a theme park. Especially at a regional theme park, it’s fairly rare that you can walk out of the door of your room, and be at the entrance gate of the park in approximately 5-7 minutes without setting foot in a vehicle or crossing a major roadway. From a Worlds of Fun Village Cottages or RV sites, you are a short journey across the Oceans of Fun parking lot away from the Oceans of Fun gate, which was open, despite the water park being closed during our visit.

There are chain hotels that are “close” to Worlds of Fun, but you’re not going to be able to walk there (and we do not advocate playing Frogger across Highway 435). Parking is included in the cost with your stay at the Worlds of Fun Village, and if you need your car, you’re mere steps away from it, parked right outside of your cottage or cabin (and there’s ample parking.)

2. There is Room for Six.

Space is not wasted in the cottages at the Worlds of Fun Village, as each cottage can sleep up to six with a double bed and two bunk beds in the bedroom, and a futon in the living room. Splitting the cost of a cottage six ways has potential to be a cost saver, especially if you’re factoring in parking costs at Worlds of Fun when staying off-site.

If you’re going to stay with five of your closest friends, be sure they really are some of your closest friends, because there is just one (somewhat small-ish) bathroom in each cottage. There is a small shower, toilet, and sink area, which are all visible in the below photo. Towels and bed linens are included!

There is also ample storage for any luggage you might bring to Worlds of Fun, fully taking advantage of all available space inside the cottage.

3. The Comforts Of Home

Each Cottage has a small dining area in the living room, and a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, sink, and microwave. There are also two TV’s in each cottage, one in the bedroom, and one in the living room. Each cottage also comes equipped with free WiFi, (which is perfect for browsing Coaster101.com)

Each cottage also has its own porch with Adirondack chairs, and a charcoal grill. Depending on your vantage point, you could have a pretty fantastic view of Mamba!

4. Extra Amenities

Do you need any sundries? The Worlds of Fun has a convenience store for anything you could possibly need during your stay. It is housed in a clubhouse along with laundry and pool shower facilities. This is also where you check in for your stay! And while they were not open during our visit, if you don’t get enough water at Oceans of Fun, Worlds of Fun Village also has a swimming pool and hot tub that are open seasonally. (Memorial Day to Labor Day).

Worth noting: all cottages and cabins at Worlds of Fun Village are non-smoking and pet-free.

Are you the type of person who can be lulled to sleep by the gentle roar of a Morgan Hyper, or appreciate waking up to the morning testing of a roller coaster? Be sure to consider the Worlds of Fun Village during your next stay!
