After visiting WinterFest at Carowinds during the last two seasons (2017, 2018, New Year’s Eve 2018) , the holiday season is quickly becoming one of my favorite times to visit the park. The food is fantastic, the lights are festive, and the live entertainment is incredible. Carowinds announced today that they are adding some additional “Holiday Cheer” to their annual WinterFest event with the addition of the “WinterFest Wonderland” Parade.
The WinterFest Wonderland Parade is being billed as a “Christmas parade brimming with dazzling displays, exciting performances and extravagantly decorated holiday floats.”
The lavish floats for this one-of-a-kind parade are being custom designed and built by Kern Studios, the same family business that’s been creating world-famous Mardi Gras floats for decades, and also created several floats for the Grand Carnivale spectacular that took place earlier this year at fellow Cedar Fair parks Kings Dominion, Kings Island, Worlds of Fun, and Dorney Park.
To add to the holiday delight, WinterFest performers from many of the event’s live entertainment options will come together for an over-the-top parade performance that Carowinds notes you won’t want to miss.. The Wonderland Parade will bring holiday cheer to WinterFest nightly, capping each evening with wonder and joy.
And, of course, no Holiday parade would be complete an appearance by Santa Claus himself.
“The WinterFest Wonderland Parade will entertain our guests in a very special way,” Brent Barr, corporate vice president of entertainment for Cedar Fair, said, “This is an over-the-top production that comes right to you on the midway. It’s absolutely the perfect complement to a magical evening at WinterFest.”
Barr said that during idea development he and his team focused on finding a way to allow guests to really get close to the show, to feel a part of the experience. That’s when the magic happens.
“As a new idea like the WinterFest Wonderland Parade comes to life, my favorite thing to do is go out onto the midways and see parents watching their children just become enchanted. That’s when I know we’ve done the job right. And we’re really proud of this parade. It’s truly a ‘statement piece’ for WinterFest.”
