Two components of the massive Dubai Parks and Resorts development are now open to the public: Legoland Dubai and the Riverland Dubai dining and retail district.

As seen in the map above, Legoland Dubai and Riverland Dubai represent only the beginning of the much larger Dubai Parks and Resorts complex.

Raed Kajoor Al Nuaimi, CEO of DXB Entertainments PJSC, the owner of Dubai Parks and Resorts said: “Riverland Dubai and Legoland Dubai will be unveiled for the very first time and offer unique experiences and entertainments that I genuinely believe will set the bar in this region.”

“Nothing of this magnitude has ever been done before and after three years of hard work it is a great honor to start to show our guests what we have achieved.”

Let’s take a closer look at what’s now open at Dubai Parks and Resorts:

Legoland Dubai

Legoland Dubai offers guests 40 interactive rides, shows, attractions and more. It features 15,000 LEGO model structures made from over 60 million LEGO bricks.

The theme park is divided into six zones:

  • Lego City: “children can indulge in a range of playful learning opportunities including flying a plane at the LEGO City airport, steering a boat at the boating school, or earning a LEGOLAND driving license at the driving school.”
  • Kingdoms: “knights and princesses can explore a medieval land and conquer the exhilarating Dragon Coaster, which takes you on a journey through the King’s castle.”
  • Imagination
  • Adventure: “for young explorers seeking thrilling antics while enjoying a captivating Submarine Adventure, Wave Racers that power through waves and dodge water blasts as well as an exciting escapade through ancient temple ruins to recover a pharaoh’s stolen treasure.”
  • Miniland: “the heart of all LEGOLAND Parks, is made up of over 20 million LEGO bricks featuring Dubai’s iconic skyline and key landmarks from around the Middle East and international destinations.”

“We’re pleased to be able to bring the much-loved Legoland brand to Dubai…Dubai is a key holiday market, and we expect this new park to appeal to both domestic and international visitors,” stated John Jakobsen, chief new openings officer at Merlin Entertainment.

Riverland Dubai

The Riverland Dubai dining and retail district will connect Dubai Parks and Resorts’ three theme parks and water park and will be open to everyone — no admission ticket required.

The area will feature a diverse lineup of restaurants and shops along with street theater and live entertainment.

The district will be divided among four themed zones crafted to “take guests on a visual experience through the ages:” a medieval French Village, a 1950s American Boardwalk, India Gate and a 19th century Peninsula.

While shopping is a huge draw for Riverland Dubai, food fanatics like me will find nearly limitless dining options: McDonald’s, Starbucks, The Bagel Bar Coffee House, WokChi, Tortilla, Ella’s Creamery, 800 Degrees Pizza, etc. You won’t go hungry here. And those are just the places that are open now. There are plenty more on the way.

There’s still much more to come for Dubai Parks and Resorts. The Bollywood Parks Dubai theme park, Legoland Water Park and Lapita Hotel will open on November 15, while the Motiongate Dubai theme park will open on December 16. A Six Flags Dubai theme park is tentatively scheduled to debut in late 2019.
