Darien Lake Goes Wet and Wild in 2015

In 2015, Darien Lake will add a “freefall” double water slide and a seven-story “giant loop” to the park’s ride and slide lineup.

Learn more about these two new attractions below:

Rolling Thunder

Standing seven stories tall, this Larson “Giant Loop” ride is similar to the loop-style rides opening at several Six Flags parks in 2015.

You can’t control the roll! Who’s afraid of Thunder? Lock yourself into the Rolling Thunder, our brand new 7-story steel loop of pure adrenaline! It’s “one wild” looping thrill ride!

If the name “Rolling Thunder” sounds familiar, it was also the name of Six Flags Great Adventure’s racing wooden coaster that closed in 2013.

Brain Drain

After a “wild” ride on Rolling Thunder, the park’s “wet” attraction, Brain Drain, will be a great way to cool off:

Pulsin’ Propulsion…over 300 feet in 10 seconds! You’re 70 feet up in the air. Imagine thrusting down the most intense water slide, dropping over 300 feet long through a 360 degree loop, then splashing down into a refreshing pool! It’s the breathtaking force of the Brain Drain!

Watch the video below to see the concept in action:

These types of slides are thrilling to say the least. Read my review of a similar attraction at Six Flags Great America’s Hurricane Harbor here.

Darien Lake General Manager Chris Thorpe said the following in regard to the park’s 2015 plans: “We’re proud that the expansion of the park, New York’s coaster capital, will be another great example of the exciting revitalization efforts happening across the region.”
