Disney Parks Revealing Star Wars Plans This Year

It was only a matter of time, Star Wars junkies. Disney will reportedly announce later this year “ambitious” plans for new Star Wars attractions at Disney parks around the world.

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently revealed in an interview that we may begin to hear specific plans as early as later this year. But of course, in true Disney (Avatar) fashion, the attractions will “take some time for them to be built and opened,” according to this Variety article.

Although no specific plans have been revealed, the Star Wars-inspired rides and attractions will be based on the future Star Wars films, including the new trilogy and spin-off movies.

“Fairly soon, I’m sure we’ll be ready to go public with some specifics,” Iger later told Bloomberg Television. “But it’s safe to say that you’ll see a lot more Star Wars at Disney and Disney parks in the near future.”

If you haven’t done so already, treat yourself to a viewing of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer below. The film will be released in the United States on Dec. 18, 2015.
