Small Fire at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Last night guests at Magic Kingdom were treated to an extended nighttime spectacular after embers from the park’s firework show caught a section of the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride building on fire.

Fortunately, firefighters were soon on the scene to extinguish the small blaze. The video below shows the flames as seen from guests’ perspective in Fantasyland:

Luckily, the fire did not damage any major components of the ride itself:

“We believe fireworks fell from the Magic Kingdom fireworks show and the ash landed at the top of the attraction, catching the fake grass on fire,” Bo Jones, spokesman for the Reedy Creek Fire Department, said in a statement. “The fire was contained to just the grass and did not get into the building or structure.”

The ride remained closed for two hours but reportedly reopened shortly after midnight.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train opened earlier this year as one of the final components of the reimagined Fantasyland section of Magic Kingdom.
