Last month, we revisited the dormant Freestyle Music Park (formerly Hard Rock Park), and now the fate of the Myrtle Beach, S.C. theme park may be sealed.
Recently, rumors swirled that most of the rides had been sold to a buyer in China. That isn’t the case, it seems, as amusement ride broker Ital International has listed many of the failed theme park’s ride as “for sale.”
The listing (as of this posting) includes all of the park’s five roller coasters:
Time Machine (Led Zeppelin)
Roundabout (Maximum RPM!)
Iron Horse (Eagles Life in the Fastlane)
Soak’d (Slippery When Wet)
Hang Ten (Shake, Rattle & Rollercoaster)
Most of the park’s flat rides are listed as well.
Seabreeze in Rochester, N.Y. was rumored to have snagged two of the park’s rides. They confirmed on their Facebook page that the new-for-2014 Wave Swinger and Great Balloon Race are coming from Freestyle Music Park.
When a Facebook user asked if the rides came from Freestyle Music Park, a rep for the park replied: “Yes they are from the former Freestyle Park / Hard Rock Park! You know your rides! The Wave Swinger ran for 2 season, the Balloon Race for one. Needless to say, they are both virtually brand new. We’re excited about the new additions.”
Where do you think the Freestyle Music Park/Hard Rock Park coasters and other rides will go? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
I have my fingers crossed that new Grand Texas (Houston, TX) could and might possibly get Time Machine coaster, if the soon-to-be reopening Kentucky Kingdom (Louisville, KY) doesn’t get it. I also picture Grand Texas possibly getting Hang Ten kiddie/family coaster.
I am just sad that this park did not come to life in Myrtle Beach, SC. . What a great concept for an amusement park; music, rides, and fun!
Wow,so sad to see the park go.I thought you said no B&Ms had been closed
