After teasing us with snippets of video, Dollywood has officially released the full-length animation for FireChaser Express, their Gerstlauer family launched coaster that will open in 2014.
Watch the entire video below:
Below is an overview of the coaster’s entire layout:
FireChaser Express will occupy the site of the former Adventure Mountain obstacle course. The coaster takes full advantage of the hillside location, much better than nearby Wild Eagle does, in my opinion.
The 120-foot-lift hill will peak at a height of 79 feet above the ground. Riders will reach a top speed of 34.5 mph on theĀ 2,427-foot-long coaster.
The coaster will feature three, 14-seat trains.

seeing this makes me wonder why BGW built Verbolten, in the first place, i know that this is a year after, but still, this actually uses the terrain throughout, not just for one element (the iconic drop), i still think that Verbolten was a huge mistake on their part, but at least Dollywood knows what their doing, and only use an event building for one part, not the majority of a ride built on great land.
If you like Verbolten don’t attack me, this is just MY opinion, please respect that,
But straying away from the comparisons, FCE looks amazing for a family coaster, it’s not too fast or tall, it doesn’t feature any super extreme elements (the backwards launch may be too much for some), it won’t thrill adults, but there’s Wild Eagle, Mystery Mine and Thunderhead for that. But what i really like the the lift and launch hybrid, it may seem like nothing, but other than Power Keg at SDC, how many coasters feature both a lift and a launch? not that many, it just makes the ride, though the first launch seemed kind of mandatory,
I see FireChaser Express at Dollywood being a stand-out coaster of 2014… along with Banshee at King’s Island, Goliath at Six Flags Great America, and Medusa Steel Coaster at Six Flags Mexico.
