The next park in our Vintage Park Photos series is Six Flags World of Adventure. These pictures were taken in 2002 when the amusement park was at its peak in terms of the number of attractions. Sadly, Worlds of Adventures only lasted from 2001 to 2003 when Cedar Fair bought the property and returned the park to its original name: Geauga Lake. It operated under this name until the property was closed for good in 2007. Many of the coasters would be shipped off to other Cedar Fair parks: X-Flight to Kings Island, Superman Ultimate Escape (aka Steel Venom) to Dorney Park, Serial Thriller (Thunderhawk) to Michigan’s Adventure, and Batman Knight Flight (Dominator) to Kings Dominion. Many of these popular coasters were added to the park by Six Flags within a short period of time which, while great for the few coaster enthusiasts who visited, may have also contributed to its downfall.
Sorry for the quality of the pictures but these were taken before I owned a digital camera. Were you lucky enough to make it to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in its heyday? Have you been on any of the relocated coasters?
