Bobcast is the first wooden coaster to open in New York State since 2003 and the first new coaster to be built at Six Flags Great Escape since 2003. It joins the park’s historic Comet wooden coaster, which was relocated to Six Flags Great Escape in 1998 from Crystal Beach, where it operated from 1948-1989.

“We knew we had to find a perfect fit to replace the Alpine Bobsled in the hearts of our guests,” said Resort President Rebecca Wood.

“This beautiful, all-natural wooden family coaster will deliver a smooth, fast and heart-pounding experience. It is sure to be an instant classic.”

Bobcat will replace the park’s existing Alpine Bobsled coaster, which will close on September 4, 2023. It opened in 1998 and previously operated at Six Flags Great Adventure as Sarajevo Bobsled and at Six Flags Great America as Rolling Thunder.

Pending local approval, Bobcat will open in the spring of 2024, coinciding with the park’s 70th anniversary celebration.
