Warner Bros. Movie World Announces Flash: Speed Force

Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia today announced “The Flash: Speed Force,” a multi-launch Intamin halfpipe shuttle coaster that will open in 2024.

The coaster is an Intamin “Surfrider” model. The halfpipe-shaped shuttle coaster features a roughly 220-foot-long span of track standing 98 feet tall. The surfboard-inspired train will reach a top speed of 43 mph as it launches forward and backward via a linear synchronous motor (LSM) launch.

It originally opened as the appropriately named “Surfrider” at Wet’n’Wild Water World, which is located within the same entertainment complex as Warner Bros. Movie World. There, the coaster operated from 2007-2020.

The park is calling The Flash: Speed Force the first “ride-within-a-ride” experience in the southern hemisphere due to its placement within the middle of the layout of the park’s Superman Escape launched coaster (also a product of Intamin).

The coaster will be built in the area circled in orange. That placement will no doubt lead to exciting interactions between the two coasters.

Flash: Speed Force is expected to open in April 2024.
