Las Vegas’ newest roller coaster is about to take flight. El Loco at the Circus Circus Adventuredome will open to the public on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014.
The Adventuredome’s El Loco is one of only six S&S “El Loco” models in the world, and the only one to be built indoors.
It’s the second of its kind in the United States, following Steel Hawg at Indiana Beach.
El Loco’s compact layout was squeezed into part of the space formerly occupied by the former Rim Runner flume ride.
The park is using Twitter and other social media to promote the coaster’s opening. You can follow the #ElLocoisComing hashtag on Twitter for more behind-the-scenes photos from the pre-opening festivities.
Each of El Loco’s six cars seat four riders. The car’s open design gives riders the feeling of flight during the 72-second ride along the 1,300 feet of track.

Riders will also enjoy a custom soundtrack with speakers in each seat.
