The A-Z Coaster of the Week for the letter F is…Fahrenheit at HersheyPark! A few stats:
Park: HersheyPark
Opened: 2008
Length: 2,700 ft.
Height: 121 ft.
Speed: 58 mph
Inversions: 6
Manufacturer: Intamin
Fahrenheit uses a vertical lift with dual chains to hoist the three-car, twelve passenger trains to the top of the 121 foot summit before they plummet down a 97 degrees drop, reaching speeds of 58 miles per hour! The coaster hurls riders through six inversions and an airtime hill. Maximum capacity is 850 guests an hour.
Leading up to the official announcement of the new coaster, HersheyPark built up hype for the new addition through a viral marketing campaign. Clues were posted on a design company website, “Nantimi”, an anagram of the coaster manufacturer, Intamin. Fans of the park were sent clues through various coaster websites and message boards and they had to work together to piece together the clues to solve the puzzle. Eleven participants were chosen to be among the first riders of the new coaster.
