Great news! The Santa Cruz Beach Boarwalk website reports that the Undertow spinning coaster has passed inspections and will be operating during “weekends on a limited schedule for the remainder of the year.”
The website also reports: “An official opening will be scheduled for Spring 2014. As is the case with most new amusement park rides, there may be some unexpected ride delays during operating hours for the first few weekends.”
The coaster was significantly delayed; it was originally scheduled to open in July.
Riders spin through 1,410 feet of track. The Maurer Söhne coaster stands 50 feet tall and reaches a top speed of 40 mph.
