Kings Island Trip Report #2

Sunday we hopped in the car and headed down to Kings Island for one last visit before the season ended (and also to check out how Banshee was coming along). It was pretty chilly in the morning but it ended up being a beautiful day. Fall time is one of my favorite times to be at the park; it’s not too hot and the crowds aren’t too large. Our longest wait was only about 20 minutes, but most of the time we got on in around 10.

We started our day at none other than The Beast! Everyone talks about how the best ride on The Beast is at night, and I agree, but I also have to say that a ride through the backwoods with the leaves changing color makes for a very cool experience too.

Next, we stepped over to Diamondback for six straight rides. This is one of my favorite rides, it is so smooth and has a lot of airtime! They were operating the ride well, you hardly ever were standing still in line.

I’ve been hearing rumors surrounding Flight Deck, so I had to go check it out for myself (more on this to come). Flight Deck is still a really good ride, but I wish it was longer. The way it moves through the ravine gives the feeling of high speed and the turns are intense. While over in Action Zone, I took quite some time to gaze upon Banshee and see how much progress has been made (more to come on this also).

In my “Battle of the Kings” article, I explained how much smoother Rebel Yell was than The Racer. I’m back to say that it is so, so true. I gave The Racer another shot and it was painful to say the least.

After riding Diamondback a few more times we broke for dinner at The Reds Hall of Fame Grill. The food was good but it was an off day for them, I barely got any of their delicious chips.

Before heading home, I had to get one last ride on my favorite coaster, The Beast. Nothing on any other ride comes close to the experience of The Beast’s double-helix finale! On the way out of the park, I made sure to grab a famous Blue Ice Cream to top off a great day.
