Make a Big Splash: Inside Bingeman’s New Typhoon Twister Waterslides

Located in Kitchener, Ontario, Bingeman’s is a multi-faceted family destination, offering a taste of everything from camping and mini golf to an indoor soft playground and Boston Pizza. Their crown jewel though is Big Splash, a small waterpark with a wave pool at the top of the hill and a rainbow of slide colors tumbling down beneath it. Their newest addition is Typhoon Twister, a collection of body slides engineered by Canada’s own Proslide Technology.

We were on hand for its grand opening the other week, celebrated with a ceremonious ribbon cutting and plastic branded sunglasses for the first 300 guests. An unseasonably cold June kind of put a dampener on the day and following weeks, but Ontario’s scorching summer weather is here at last and we are now truly into waterpark season.

The attraction’s design was strategically customized for the park. The striking colours compliment the rainbow-colored hillside of fiberglass far better than the old drab Pipe slide pair, or the vacant lot that was left after its retirement a few seasons ago. Bingeman’s also regularly hosts day camps and school groups, for whom the new slides are not only appealing to but can more effectively absorb with its four distinct flumes.

The two green lanes feature multiple rally points spliced between its helixes, where guests can briefly see one another and effectively duel. Racing waterslides have morphed into a huge trend in recent years, wielding more zany and creative layouts in the name of competition.

The blue slide features a pair of scaled-down FlyingSaucer’s, where riders whizz around a pair of disks more closely resembling slalom turns. Riders are able to build up plenty of speed through the layout, maybe arguably too much for heavier guests.

My personal favorite though may have been the yellow flume, which feels deceptively lengthy and even intense with its several helixes. Near the end there’s some cool daylight effects with stars, a feature that always spices up any waterslide!

Other attractions at Bingeman’s includes the blink-and-you-miss-it Full Throttle mat racer, the popular high-speed Torpedo Bay and Cyclone body slides, and the Boomerango. Typhoon Twister is a choice addition to this lineup and niche waterpark enjoyers are sure to get a kick out of it.

Bingeman’s continues to assert itself as a choice family destination in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. Most of all though it stands to serve the local community, whether they’re day camps of children, adults seeking a fun night out bowling, or weekend escapees. I think that might be the biggest splash a waterpark can make.
