Shoreline Pier Now Open at Six Flags Great Adventure

In the midst of a heatwave in New Jersey, Six Flags Great Adventure has opened its newest section of the park, Shoreline Pier, a reimagined land that is home to five attractions through an homage to the Jersey Shore’s iconic boardwalks. We were fortunate to attend the grand opening of Shoreline Pier and experience all the rides, food, and beverages that the new area has to offer, with the exception of Barrels O’ Fun, formerly known as Ragin’ Cajun from Six Flags America.

Upon entering Shoreline Pier, guests are greeted by Flying Scooters, one of three flat rides that were relocated from Six Flags America. The kinetic energy of the area is incomparable to any other area of the park with all the rides in close proximity and the spinning motions of the rides for guests to watch.

I was personally surprised by the landscaping of Shoreline Pier and the attention to detail when it came to theming as seagull statues were strategically placed throughout all parts of the area. Being a New Jersey native, I have spent numerous summers down the shore. Shoreline Pier felt like a celebration of a part of New Jersey that a lot of people grew up with as well, truly capturing the boardwalk atmosphere and embracing the state’s seaside heritage.

Of all the flat rides in Shoreline Pier, Hypno Twister, the Zamperla NebulaZ, was my favorite as it combines spinning, swinging, and quick bursts of airtime all at once. Hypno Twister provided a much more intense and unique sensation than it looks from the “boardwalk.” With the addition of Shoreline Pier, Six Flags Great Adventure now has a really solid collection of flat rides for guests of all ages.

“Shoreline Pier represents so much more than new rides,” said Mike Fehnel, Park President of Six Flags Great Adventure. “We’ve created an experience that celebrates the sights, sounds and flavors of the Jersey Shore while giving families even more reasons to spend an entire day making memories together. Combined with experiences like Boardwalk Nights and the continued rise of Project Purple, this is one of the most exciting times in our park’s history.”

Even after the new addition of Shoreline Pier, the fast construction of Project Purple off in the distance caught the attention of every guest who attended media day. While details of the new roller coaster still remain vague (and heavily speculated), the excitement was certainly in the air for next year’s addition. Coaster101 got to leave our mark on Project Purple by signing the last piece of track that is to be installed within the coming weeks.

Thank you to Six Flags Great Adventure for hosting us at the event and wishing a big congratulations on the grand opening of Shoreline Pier!
