Alton Towers Announces Bluey The Ride: Here Come The Grannies!

The theme for Alton Towers’ new family roller coaster has been revealed – and it’s a familiar IP to those with young children: Bluey!

Bluey The Ride: Here Come the Grannies is a custom-layout family roller coaster manufactured by Zierer scheduled to open later this spring in the park’s CBeebies Land, and takes its name from a series of episodes where Bluey & Bingo dress up as Grannies – Janet & Rita. It will be the first new roller coaster to open at the park since Wicker Man in 2018.

Per our Coaster101 writing staff with “Bluey” aged children – these episodes are Grannies (S1E28), Bus (S2E22), Granny Mobile (S3E33) if you’re looking for a ride backstory!

According to the park,

For the first time ever a Bluey junior coaster made for kiddos and big imaginations! Bluey and Bingo, dressed up as Janet & Rita, get up to some grannies-themed mischief through Bluey’s backyard, whisking you over gentle dips, around turns, and through colourful trees, flowers, and playful surprises.

The coaster’s queue will feature an “interactive” queue, complete with Bluey’s house, where guests can participate in fun play activities before their ride. And that’s not all, Bluey super-fans can meet Bluey and her family at the Bluey Live experience within Big Fun Show Time or stay for the ultimate Bluey sleepover at the award-winning CBeebies Land Hotel.

A colourful, playful adventure for the whole family awaits as families can share their giggle-packed first coaster memories together.
