Universal Kids Resort Themed Land Details Unveiled
Universal Destinations & Experiences today shared new details about the upcoming Universal Kids Resort, the first Universal theme park designed for families with young children. Set to open in 2026 in Frisco, Texas, the resort will feature seven themed lands inspired by popular characters and franchises from DreamWorks, Illumination and Nickelodeon.

The park is described as a regional destination that focuses on play, imagination and creativity rather than high-intensity thrills commonly found at other Universal park.
Here’s a closer look at what guests can expect from the seven themed lands:

Isle of Curiosity
Guests will begin their visit at the Isle of Curiosity, the colorful, whimsical entry point to Universal Kids Resort. Designed as an imaginative gateway, this area encourages exploration and creativity with colorful, hands-on play spaces. It will also feature a meet-and-greet with Gabby from DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse, complete with music and a kid-friendly dance party to kick off the day.

DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp
Shrek fans, rejoice. One of the park’s most recognizable areas will be Shrek’s Swamp. The land transforms Shrek’s famously muddy home into a play zone featuring two interactive attractions: Swamp Rompin’ Stomp and Swamp Splash & Smash. Guests can meet Shrek and his wife, Fiona, explore their swampy surroundings and even take photos in the onion carriage seen in the films.

DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar
The Puss in Boots Del Mar area will offer guests a carnival-style atmosphere inspired by the Shrek-adjacent sword-wielding cat. Guests can meet Puss, Perrito and Mama Luna while trying their luck at themed games like Barriles de Leche and El Gato’s Meow. The land’s mix of games, characters and playful theming is designed to appeal to both younger kids and parents.

Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
At Bello Bay Club, the Minions take center stage in a splash-filled competition between the Yellow and Purple Minions. The area will feature water-based activities, interactive play zones and a Minions meet-and-greet.

Jurassic World Adventure Camp
Jurassic World Adventure Camp introduces kids to the prehistoric world and Jurassic World franchise through hands-on exploration. The land will offer educational opportunities to meet baby dinosaurs, climb the park’s Lookout Towers for a bird’s-eye view and explore various adventure-themed play areas.

The overall design focuses on discovery and light thrills rather than intense rides, which aligns with the park’s focus on younger guests.

DreamWorks’ TrollsFest
TrollsFest brings the colorful world of DreamWorks’ Trolls movies to life with music, character meet-and-greets and play zones. Visitors can interact with Poppy, Branch and other characters, explore Poppy’s Playland and crawl through the Trolls Critter Crawl. The area is designed as a high-energy, music-filled environment full of bright colors and movement.

Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom
The Bikini Bottom area will let guests splash into the undersea world of SpongeBob SquarePants. The land features meet-and-greets with SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy, as well as themed play areas such as Mussel Beach and Pineapple Paradise.
Universal Kids Resort Hotel and Other Attractions
Universal Kids Resort will also include a 300-room themed hotel connected directly to the park, giving families a convenient place to stay just steps from the attractions. And in addition to the park’s many play areas, Universal Kids Resort will offer guests multiple sensory gardens designed to give children and families opportunities to pause, reset and connect. These carefully crafted spaces allow guests to explore through touch, sound and color in calming, nature-inspired settings, offering moments of balance within a day full of play.
