Mission Bermudes: How Innovative Mack Rides Rocking Boat Works

French theme park Futuroscope is set to debut one of the most innovative rides of the year: the first Mack Rides Rocking Boat. Mission Bermudes showcases all the things this versatile ride system can do: float freely like a real boat while also having the ability to negotiate large roller coaster drops.

How Mack Rides Rocking Boat Works

The first video revealing Mack Rides rocking boat concept was posted five years ago which gives you an idea how long a new ride system take to develop, sell, and build!

As seen in the patent, the Mack Rides Rocking Boat design uses a flexible connection system between the floating boat and an undercarriage chassis. Think of the boat riding loosely above a coaster-style track, connected by pivoting arms that let it sway and rock naturally in the water, but still follows the guide rail underneath.

The coaster track runs the entire length of the ride. This means you can control the location of the boat at all times and the boat cannot capsize due to the connection to the chassis.

A drive system (I assume LSMs) propel the coaster chassis along the track. The drive system allows for forwards and backwards movement and track switches allow the boat to change directions.

The track can be completely hidden from view when submerged underwater, making the ride’s layout unpredictable for passengers.
