Titan Track Coming to Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce in 2023

When Lake Compounce opens for its 177th season later this month, the park’s popular Boulder Dash coaster will feature 580 feet of steel Titan Track from Great Coasters International, Inc. (GCI).

Titan Track is GCI’s steel track that can be used in new coasters or as a replacement for traditional wooden coaster track. This track allows for new ride elements such as inversions and even launch track. Boulder Dash’s Titan Track can be seen in the photos below:

The track has already been installed on several coasters, including White Lightning at Fun Spot Orlando, Predator at Six Flags Darien Lake and Wolverine Wildcat at Michigan’s Adventure.

Boulder Dash is a Custom Coasters International wooden coaster that opened in 2000. A terrain coaster built on the side of a mountain, it stands 115 feet tall and reaches a top speed of 60 mph along its 4,725 feet of track. The park expects the new Titan Track will result in a smoother and faster ride.

“Since Boulder Dash was completed at Lake Compounce and opened to riders in 2000, it has been a massive draw for park-goers of all ages,” said Lake Compounce Director of Operations Megan Major.

“Adding Titan Track to the coaster will not only enhance the ride experience but the steel tracking will also allow for easier maintenance on the coaster, allowing our team to ensure the ride can stay open longer to guests.”

Boulder Dash — new Titan Track included — will open with the park on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

Boulder Dash will officially open for rides featuring the all-new Titan Track on Opening Day, April 29. Those interested in being among the first to ride are encouraged to arrive early.

But Boulder Dash’s new track isn’t the only improvement guests will notice in 2023.

The park is also upgrading its popular Potato Patch food stand with a new seating area (the Potato Patio) and a revamped ordering process that will allow for faster service and a better guest experience. Guests will also find an all-new item on the menu, the Potato Patch fry bucket — 64 ounces of fresh-cut fries in new souvenir buckets.
