Manufactured in 1963 by Schwarzkopf Industries, the parts will be refurbished from two similar Bayern Kurve attractions — one from Indiana and the other from Europe.

The 32-passenger ride (riders situated in pairs of 16) can reach a top speed of nearly 70 mph, making it the fastest ride at Knoebels.

The video below shows Kennywood’s Bayern Kurve in action:

The ride has three asynchronous electric motors, which will provide 663 pound-feet of torque to accelerate the seven-ton train to its top speed around the circular track.

Knoebels’ Bayern Kurve will be located in the former spot of 1001 Nacht near the park’s Merry Mixer, Sklooosh and Pioneer Train attractions.

Knoebels Amusement Resort will open for the 2023 season on April 29.
