Texas’ First Alpine Coaster Cliff Carver Finally Opens

Cliff Carver — the first alpine coaster in Texas — is finally open.

Located in Texas Hill Country at Camp Fimfo (the name stands for “Fun Is More Fun Outside”), the Wiegand Sports alpine coaster can hit a max speed of 25 mph and can last anywhere from 8-9 minutes.

The 1.1-mile-long, rider-controlled experience has three downhill runs. The gravity-propelled sleds feature manual brakes, allowing riders to take in the natural views as they travel down the mountainside either by optional cruise control or distance control.

Wiegand alpine coasters are built to accommodate a max capacity of 500 people per hour with their two-seater cars. They can run year-round with their wear-free eddy current technology and integrated track end brake.
