The grand opening of Pirate River Quest also marks the return of canal boats, a beloved feature of the historic Gardens for decades. Considered Florida’s first tourist attraction, Cypress Gardens botanical gardens first opened to the public on January 2, 1936, and operated until 2003, reopening as Cypress Gardens Adventure Park from 2004 until 2009. Boats began taking guests on tours through the canals of Cypress Gardens in 1938 and would become an iconic element of the gardens until 2003. Twenty years later, Pirate River Quest utilizes much of the same canal route as the original attraction, with the finale taking guests out onto Lake Eloise for a view of the gardens that are not often seen.

With a LEGO twist, this new ride will introduce new generations to this Florida treasure. The voyage also offers a new and unique view of the Gardens from the open waters of Lake Eloise and a glimpse of Florida wildlife while onboard. There are 10 total boats, two of which are ADA accessible boats that allow guests in wheelchairs to securely ride. Having a fun and safe experience is key! Because it is an actual boat that floats into open water, guests under age 6 must wear a provided life vest.
