Hersheypark Announces Wildcat’s Revenge RMC Hybrid Coaster

Hersheypark unveiled plans today for Wildcat’s Revenge, a new-for-2023 Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) hybrid conversion of its former Wildcat wooden coaster.

Soon to be sporting steel track, the reimagined Great Coasters International (GCI) coaster will stand 140 feet tall, reach a top speed of 62 mph, stretch 3,510 feet in length and feature four inversions, including the world’s largest “underflip” element — an inversion that begins with an upward climb, followed by a counterclockwise 270-degree roll and a dive down towards the side. The three other inversions include an inverted stall, zero-g roll and reversing downhill roll.

Wildcat’s Revenge will be Hersheypark’s 15th roller coaster. The former Wildcat wooden coaster opened in 1996 and closed in July 2022. The coaster was named after the park’s original Wild Cat coaster, which operated at the park from 1923-1945.

As seen in the graphic above, the Wildcat’s Revenge station will be fully renovated with a design that harkens back to the iconic 1923 Wild Cat coaster station, with low-pitched gables around the perimeter of the roof.

The 2-minute and 36-second Wildcat’s Revenge ride will include an 82-degree drop and hit a maximum speed of 62 miles per hour along 3,510 feet of red track on a black steel and wood structure. The pursuit continues as riders stalk their prey through four inversions, including the World’s Largest Underflip,

“Based on our guest feedback, we knew coaster fans would love a hybrid at Hersheypark, and we’re thrilled to work with RMC on a custom wood and steel coaster with a nod to our history,” said Vikki Hultquist, General Manager of Attractions at Hersheypark.

The coaster’s three trains will be led by fully-dimensional black, charcoal and silver wild cats “exacting revenge on their wooden predecessor.”
